Whoopie Pies!

Hey hey cake lovers :-)

Well we mentioned a few days ago we wanted to introduce you to yet another emerging cake trend, and once again we have our US neighbours to thank.

We have no doubt that some of you may not have heard of whoopie pies just yet...but also no doubt that you will see (and taste!) them more and more over the next months and years...

Similar in texture to a cupcake, but sort of inside out, with more of the yummy top stuff! Intrigued?

Well we've asked the lovely Whoopie Pies UK to tell us more!

Chocolate Whoopie Pie with Vanilla Cream - by Whoopie Pies UK

If you're tempted, Whoopie Pies UK can actually deliver some of these delicious treats to your door in a lovely box - how fab is that. We think they'd make a perfect gift instead of sending flowers or a card, for any occasion :-) Or maybe just a bit of self indulgence....remember - cake is always the answer!

Adam from Whoopie Pies UK established the company after deciding to turn his love of baking into a new career. Working with his partner they started baking and delivering fab cakes in a whole range of flavours all over the country earlier this year.

Adam tells us:
Whoopie pies are becoming really popular and we're really starting to sell a lot of them, mainly by post. People love trying new cakes and we enjoy getting some great feedback from our customers. Many of our customers buy our whoopie pies as presents for people as we present them in a lovely box with ribbon and a card. We also make whoopie pies for corporate events incorporating company logos and we have done several weddings as they make great wedding favours presented in a pretty box.
We particularly love the fact they don't just focus on what the cakes look like - but are very keen to use good quality ingredients to ensure the best taste (the most important aspect of cakes in the end!!):
The concept of natural home baking inspires our work. We only use natural flavours and preservatives in our pies and it disturbs us to read how many e-numbers there are in everyday cakes and confectionary that children and adults consume. We want to change the trend by using more of natures very own flavour’s and preservatives rather than by using synthetic ingredients.

We highly recommend you visit their website and have a drool over the whole range of flavours on offer - including white chocolate and raspberry, red velvet and strawberry, or peanut and milk chocolate to name just a few!
You can find Whoopie Pies UK online at www.whoopiepiesuk.co.uk or via twitter www.twitter.com/whoopiepiesuk  or facebook www.facebook.com/whoopiepiesuk.
And if you live near Plumley, you'll also find them at the Smoker Inn food festival on 15th & 16th October.
We have just one thing we're left wondering - Labadie’s Bakery in Lewiston, Massachusetts first started selling Whoopie Pies in 1925. Why did it take so long to get over here?!
Lovely to have you on the blog Whoopie Pies UK :-)
